It's near good schools, supermarkets, and the North Austin Medical Center.
We have a good monthly newsletter, and many people use a neighborhood e-mail group to share announcements of interest to all. The streets and sidewalks are well-maintained, and taxes are manageable compared to houses near downtown. Most houses and yards are well maintained, and there are plenty of trees for shade during the hot summer days. We also have a happy hour that rotates among the homes, and everyone loves it.
At Christmas, almost all the neighbors decorate their homes and trees at the curbside, and at night it looks like a winter wonderland! Most apartments allow most types of breeds, including large dogs. The bad part is no one likes to pick up after their pet. It's okay if your dog barks—you don't have to worry about being judged because of your dog.
The parks are pleasant and maintained well. The neighbors all look after each other, and we enjoy a small-town atmosphere. You really won't be bothered throughout your daily life by anyone.

The police helicopter was a regular visitor and you're regularly treated to a show of the police chasing someone. Sometimes right through your yard. The nearest grocery store is filthy.
Traffic is a nightmare and it seems that every driver on Lamar is competing for the title of 'Worst Driver in Austin'. The schools are laughable. San Diego, CA. Las Vegas, NV. Dallas, TX.
