Teams and performers engage in warm up dances before the contests starts. The are five events in total, each of which has a bronze, silver, and gold medal.
There are trophies for the teams who come first, second, and third overall. There's the vacuum race. Then, there's the bed-making speed contest. The third event is the buffer pad toss. Then staff take on the mop relay.
The toiler paper toss is a matter of serious pride. Followed soon after by the toilet brush toss. Families of competitors and colleagues turn out in force to cheer them on. Why is that? I have always generously tipped the housekeepers because I think they do the most to insure that my stay is pleasant. I also think that they work the hardest. However, I have always left a generous tip each day of my stay.

Why do we tip some people for just doing their job, but not others? I would tip a maid for just doing her job, but not a cashier. Why the difference? My position is that society is in part held together by good manners and proper etiquette.

If you are going to stay for more than two or three days, it is best to leave the gratuity in the room each day so the right person gets it as very often a new maid may be assigned to clean. You can tip lower if the driver was rude, refused to help with bags or open doors or took a costly route unnecessarily.
However, there is now a lot more competition with Lyft and other services which caused the drivers pay to drop a lot. Remember that tipping well is also a way of creating good relationships with the staff that will be working with and servers that you may be seeing again and again, so be sure to be just and generous with your money.
